Weimar Republic - Collapse 1929-1933. The crash of the New York stock market in September 1929 led to a worldwide depression, with dramatic effects on Germany.
During the late 1920’s and 1930’s, the Weimar Republic came to an end as soon as depression hit and began to take hold of the economy. As a result, the political situation in Germany became uncertain and dangerous. Social, political and economical factors all contribute to Weimar’s collapse.
In all the crisis of the Weimar Republic was a result of the combination of World War One, the Versailles Treaty, cultural change, political factors and economic issues which resulted in eventual collapse. A vital factor that contributed to undermining the Weimar Republic was the end of World War One (WWI) and the Versailles Treaty.
The Weimar Republic suffered a collapse due to the impacts of the Great Depression which affected the republic economically, socially, psychologically and politically. During the Stresemann years, Germany experienced and economic boom however, when the Depression hit Germany, the economy suffered greatly as the US no longer gave Germany loans.
